Hand-me-downs

Have you noticed that your reaction to certain words or phrases changes once you become a mother?

Road trip to a college student - awesome rite of passage involving way too much DP and showtunes in the car (LJ, Krissy, Malinda - I'm talking to you) . Road trip to a mom of an almost one year old - tears (his and mine), screaming while tugging on the straps of that obnoxious car seat, and cheerios ground into the upholstery.

Saturday mornings as a child - pajamas, a bowl of cereal, a cartoons, sleeping in. Saturday mornings to a mom - the same as every other morning except you feel slightly jaded since you can't lay around in your pajamas until noon while working on your third bowl of Cap'n Crunch.

Hand-me-downs to a grade schooler - tattered, worn out clothes that probably wouldn't fit me because I was such a chubby kid that my sister (who is 2 years and 9 months older) and I practically wore the same size until junior high when I outgrew her. Hand-me-downs to a poor, starving law student's wife - absolute God send. My tremendously generous and thoughtful sister-in-law Polly and her sister Becky have sent me some of the cutest hand-me-downs since Charlie came and we couldn't have lived without them. Here are some pictures of Charlie in the cutest hand-me-downs ya ever did see.

I love this picture of Brandon. And Charlie looks so tiny and adorable in those print jammies.

He's only 6 months in this picture and he's already a remote hog. Anything with buttons or shiny metal (as long as it isn't made for children to play with) is his toy of choice.

He doesn't always look this bewildered. He just woke up from his after church crash nap.

Ah, the days of the sleep sack. This was the only way we could keep him warm when we was little.

This kids loves to smile for the camera. This relates directly to his affection for small consumer electronics.

Charlie in his Easter outfit. This is the only picture we got of him with his shoes on. Technically, his left shoes isn't actually on but it looks like it is and when it comes to pictures, that's all that really matters.

Dang, this kid is cute.

Now, don't these hand-me-downs defy all the previously conceived notions you had about hand-me-downs? And there are dozens of other cute outfits that he wears every week (there's a lot of laundry done in this house). Thanks Becky and Polly. We would probably have a white trash, shirtless, diaper-clad baby if it weren't for you!
